We needed an armchair for a relatively narrow spot in our family room, and we were looking for really firm back support. Constructing the chair and ottoman was pretty easy and took about 45 minutes without rushing. We had no trouble lining up the slats to slide the back onto the seat, even though some reviewers have apparently had a problem with that. Reviewers have also complained about the size of the chair, which is why I add a comparison picture of the new chair next to a full sized, plush recliner. Though the new chair is only a little bigger than the average dining room chair in the seat, and though it is not tall, it is plenty big enough in all respects for a normal, and not especially thin, adult male. Reviewers have also mentioned that the bottom cushion of the chair is "rock" hard. It certainly is firm enough to describe as "hard." But the rest of the chair is only what most would consider "firm." The effect is great support for sitting back and enjoying the back support. And it is also nice to have the ottoman for this reason, because it helps a person to sit all the way back. We are extremely happy with this purchase because it fits our specific needs and preferences.
